OSSLT: Library Closed Wednesday

Wednesday, March 27 is the day of the EQAO's Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, and the CKSS Library is being used as a writing location. As a result, the library and its resources, including Chromebooks, will not be available that day. Sorry for any inconvenience.

World Poetry Day

March 21st, 2019 is UNESCO World Poetry Day! Celebrate in the CKSS Library by signing out one of our many poetry books, and visit the World Poetry Day Web Site: "One of the main objectives of the Day is to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities." Express yourself through poetry!

Canada Reads: Contenders Revealed

Five books have been announced as the Canada Reads shortlist for 2019. Read the books and follow the debates on the CBC in late March. Click here to see the list!

Forest of Reading

Check out the list of nominees for the 2018-19 Ontario Library Association's Forest of Reading Program! Participate in the Red Maple and White Pine programs here at CKSS by signing up with Mr. Thomson in the Library. Read 5-10 books before the end of April, and vote for your favourite!

Library Information:

Hours: 7:50 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., Monday - Friday, holidays & school closures excepted

Facilities: Main Library, 1 Seminar Room, Computer Area

Policies: No food or drink at computers; the library is a place of quiet research, writing, study, or collaboration

Loans: 2 weeks for books, 3 days for AV items & magazines, 1 day for Chromebooks; student card and clear account required for sign-out

Fees: Lost or damaged books assessed at replacement cost + processing fee

Accessibility: The CKSS Library is wheelchair accessible; the CKSS Library staff have ASL competencies

Networking: HDSB wireless access

E-Learning: Support is available here, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

Orientation: Grade 9 Library Orientation begins in mid-September
