Here is a great opportunity for young adults 15-29 to get paid to learn how to job search! Employment Halton is currently recruiting for their next round of the #YouthJobConnection program.  Employment Ontario developed this program to assist youth that have any barriers to employment, to obtain employment through paid training and assisted placement.

If any of you have friends or family between the ages of 15-29 that are currently:

Please refer them to the program.

The next round of in-class Youth Job Connection (YJC) Training will be held from Sept 11 - Sept 22.  We are currently seeking 60+ youth to participate, and would like to offer you the opportunity to learn about the program, how we support, what benefits are provided to the participants and how we assist with finding you full-time employment opportunities.

Orientation / program admittance sessions with 1-1 interview assessments are on the following dates: (please arrive no later than 12:45pm)

  • Aug 10 – 1-3pm
  • Aug 17 – 1-3pm

Remembrance Day @ CKSS

posted Nov 11, 2016, 10:43 AM by Ross Thomson   [ updated Nov 28, 2016, 5:43 AM ]

Here is an outline of how Remembrance Day was observed at Craig Kielburger today.

Period 2, classes watched a video created by Kyle Hume and Anna Burnett's classes. Here is a link to the video:

At the end of the video there are several questions that were used as discussion starters with classes. Teachers and students reflected on and discussed the importance of the day. Students were encouraged to use social media to share their thoughts about the day, the video presentation and/or any words/thoughts of thanks using the hashtags #CKSSRemembers, #RememberThem and tag @KielburgerSS and/or @RoyalCdnLegion.

During Periods 2, 3 and 4, students were asked to visit the atrium where a display was set-up for Postcards for Peace. Students and staff were able to sign a postcard and write a short message. The postcards were given to a rep from the local Milton chapter of the Legion who visited the school during Period 4.

At 11:00 a.m. the entire student body observed a moment of silence.

We are thankful for the work of our students who created the video and the other activities, and for the respect shown by all of our students today, as we remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedoms.
