New Procedure: Reporting an Absence or Late

CKSS has now transitioned to an automated student attendance reporting system.  Student absences and late arrivals are now to be reported solely using the special attendance reporting phone number or the online portal; please do not call the school's phone number to report absences.  The new attendance reporting phone number is 1-877-409-6310.  The web portal is accessible via the "Report an Absence or Late" link in the navigation column on the right side of this web page.

We Scare Hunger

Did you know that 41% of those that use food banks in Halton are children?  Well, the students of CKSS Youth in Action are doing something to help: We Scare Hunger!

During the week of October 28th to October 31st, we are asking CKSS students and staff to bring non-perishable food items to school, so that we can help families in need in the Milton community.  Students are asked to bring the non-perishable food items to their period 1 classes so they can be part of a class competition. Our local food bank has informed us that they are most in need of hot and cold breakfast cereal, lunch snacks for kids, juice boxes, peanut butter, and jam.

Change your life by changing the lives of others.  Bring your non-perishable food items in today!  Together, WE can help end hunger in Milton.

Outdoor Classroom Fundraising

The Green Team is hoping to build an outdoor classroom on our school grounds!  It will be accessible to all classes, and will be a clean, peaceful, comfortable, outdoor venue.

Outdoor Classroom Features:
  • a seating area with armour stone and/or reclaimed wood
  • a stage area laid with paving stones
  • a teacher's podium
  • a wood pergola structure to provide shade and aesthetics
  • indigenous plants for shade and aesthetics
Stages of the Project:
  • Stage 1: fundraising
  • Stage 2: excavation
  • Stage 3: hardscaping
  • Stage 4: softscaping

In order to see this project through, we need to secure financial support from parents and students, as well as from grants, and school & community resources.  We estimate that we need to raise $20,000 to make this project a reality.

Please consider donating to this worthwhile project that will benefit the entire school community.  For more information, please contact Scott Nicholson.  If you choose to donate by credit card, please visit the Halton Learning Foundation's secure donation website.  If you choose to donate by cheque, please drop it off at the CKSS main office to the attention of Business Manager Gerry Moynagh. Cheques can be made payable to "CKSS Outdoor Classroom".  You will receive a tax receipt for this donation.

Many thanks for your support!

CKSS Acknowledgement Project

What's easy, costs nothing, and makes people feel great?  Acknowledgement!  Here's a way we can spread acknowledgement within the school community...

1. Fill out this acknowledgement form.  Do so whenever it occurs to you that a staff member or student did something worth acknowledging.  Anything.  Big or small.  Whether they were "supposed" to do it or not.  Heck, you can even acknowledge yourself!

2. The form will be received, and the person acknowledged.

3. He or she will have the opportunity to have a picture taken in the "frame of fame" -- the picture will be posted on the school's Twitter feed.  BAM -- instant public acknowledgement!

The project is open to staff and students of CKSS.  Acknowledge someone today!
